I think the most interesting thing in the whole world is application of DOTA to times where the Author's journey and nature is supposedly important. Kit Conner as Nick, whoever that is-what changed? To one who watches without knowledge, what will they assume of all that? Some say Nabokov had the right to write Lolita due to his experiences-but the reality of that theory shows little actual support! So does anything change there? Muir, who was inspired by him, her stories so personal to her-I knew she was a lesbian dealing with great trauma even before I opened Gideon, but not of her schizophrenia, and so latched onto and understood the personal elements of Nona, so close to Nabokov-but thought Harrow, at one point, was being revealed as "not actually schizophrenic" as a plot element, until I was told otherwise. Art Spiegelman had to declare the unsympathetic greed of his own Jewish father was reality. The themes of the Matrix; have they changed with the directors? Were they always there? And do those line up necessarily with the assumptions of viewers with lenses of queer theory, then versus now?
This fascinates me, it really does. Where does the right to risk offense derive? What is the line between an unusual, perhaps stereotypical, depiction, as personal versus bigoted? Is there a duty to assume? To research? To inform? Does it change if you assume the blind viewer will take offense, or will assume the offensive fine and personal?
Pierre Menard was no Spaniard; how could he say his depiction of the nation's history was accurate, and not merely based in stereotypes?

"Hell Followed With Us tells the story of Benji, a trans teen who escapes a fundamentalist cult that causes an apocalyptic event destroying much of the world’s population...
The novel features not only a transmasculine protagonist but autistic representation, as well, in the character of Nick, the leader of the teens' found family who is “gorgeous, autistic, and a deadly shot," according to the book's publisher."

Here’s something I gotta ask
I see their trying to make movie sonic more like modern sonic but honestly I don’t really like that
the whole reason sonic is well movie sonic is cause he’s different way different than modern sonic
has his own backstory livers on earth is younger he was a little less mature in the first movie compared to the third and will get more development as the movies go on (probably like two more movies though I’m really hoping only one more)
but as he gets older and learns more he starts to become more like modern sonic and it’s just…I don’t like that he’s an alternate version for a reason not a modern sonic on a big screen
I’m probably not explaining this in the best way but hopefully you get what I’m putting down
what do you think about this whole movie sonic becoming more like modern sonic thing (side Note: will this effect how you write movie sonic in coruscation?)
I 100% get what you're putting down.
I think that they are slowly getting to the point of no return with how they write the movie's scripts. Locking themselves into the personality of the game version of Sonic rather than keeping movie Sonic as a parallel line to him, something that you can tell is supposed to be something else but is unique enough to be its own thing entirely.
It won't affect how I write Wachowski in the Coruscation AU, so dont worry! ^^
I might actually be planning on rewriting the 3rd movie for the AU since not only are there a lot of things I could nick-pick about it, but I think I'm going to be saving that for when I can get a physical copy so I can pick which scenes would fundamentally change (mostly the whole movie) with how things are set up in my AU. Which will be a whole pain in my ass to make, but Ima suck it up and do my best once I get around to it. lol
Thank you for the question! :3

XotY 2024
Book of the Year! 3. Piranesi a friend’s worthwhile recommendation. House of Leaves for dark academia, veering in and out of the territory of Paul Auster’s City of Glass. the beauty of the House is immeasurable; its kindness infinite.
2. Neuromancer so foundational to the genre that its random one-off lines invoke ideas still new and exciting today. the bleeding edge of the digital then, almost an analogue delight now. plays a magic trick with perspective in its final third that’s still on my mind.
1. The Hydrogen Sonata Banks’ final Culture novel, and the second of the lot that feels right as an ending. ultimately, deliberately, much ado about nothing. transcendent. i will return to these and reread, someday, and until then i will miss them.
Comic of the Year! 3. James Tynion IV’s paranoid ongoings (W0rldtr33, Dept. of Truth, The Nice House…, etc.) JT4 is telling too many versions of this story to pick just one, but i’ve come to love his indie horror work. betraying your friends and conspiracies of hate…
2. NYX Lanzing & Kelly are my favorite new authors in comics these days, and NYX may be their best work yet. goes further with Krakoa-X-Men Phonogram: Singles Club than Gillen ever dared to. sometimes the only big 2 book right now meaty enough to keep thinking about.
1. The Power Fantasy post-Thunderbolt, post-Immortal, post-WicDiv Kieron fucking Gillen at the peak of his powers. Wijngaard’s consistency maintains a Watchmen-descendant so enthralling you could almost see it existing even if it went back and killed its grandfather
Game of the Year! 3. Disco Elysium - The Final Cut my first time revisiting Revachol since its original release. still exceptional: deliberate friction with contemporary RPG modes of play, politically incisive (& smarter than its fans), & essentially, pathetically human.
2. Cyberpunk 2077 2.X thank god i didn’t play this at release. gameplay is smooth and responsive and generally feels good, but the high drama and performances hooked me—cherami leigh is exceptional. understands the cyberpunk genre better than the hangers-on of its moment.
1. Life is Strange series cringeworthy dialogue comes and goes, but the plots and themes of these—young adult under the weight of the world, high-stakes navigation of social life—just work. first game found my true weakness: nostalgia for the 2013 indie scene.
Film of the Year!: Theatrical 3. Don Hertzfeldt’s World of Tomorrow I-III shorts almost feel essentially home/digital viewing these days, so seeing these with an audience at the Paris was unexpected. bitterness and laughter, memory and legacy, and the hope for a paycheck to come.
2. I Saw the TV Glow Justice Smith’s best performance yet and the best soundtrack of the year. nostalgia for Buffy and Nick at Nite boiling over into transgender existential horror. that final scream, man…
1. Tenet (70mm IMAX) works even better on every new loop. bullets from the future, fired at the past. particles and antiparticles annihilating, becoming each other, ending history. too big for your eyes, too loud for your ears. an expression of faith—
Film of the Year!: Home 3. Mystery Train Jim Jarmusch just wants to hang out all night. you should want to hang out with him.
2. Run Lola Run peak Tykwer. a cartoon, a soap opera, a tragedy, a race. the most nineteen ninety-nine anything has ever been. you absolutely see how he ended up with the Wachowskis and David Mitchell.
1. My Own Private Idaho 50% shakespearesque stage acting blank verse, 50% stylistically-out-there gay tragicomedy. a smidgen of SNL’s Sprockets; nude portraiture standing in for sex; the Pogues and the B-52s. narcolepsy is my favorite scene transition device in cinema.
Album of the Year! 3. Moons Melt Milk Light my first Anenon album, which technically came out late last year. gorgeously breathy sax and bass clarinet jazz. the type of piano playing where the wood of the bench settling is part of the instrument. highly recommend.
2. Only God Was Above Us in love with the odd-numbered VW albums, and seeing them live this year didn't hurt. a return to form while maintaining the new jam band aspect that enlivens the act post-Rostam. in dreams i scream piano!
1. All Hell + More Hell i've spent more time this year listening to All Hell and its companion EP More Hell than any other album. Los Campesinos! pulled 00s emo through the pasta-shaper of leftist twitter-tumblr and came out the other end with a masterpiece noodle.

Cosmic Video Game Theory: Could Our Universe Be a Simulation?
The idea that we're living in a simulation of the world isn't new However, every now and again philosophers or physicists is able to contribute something. Melvin Vopson, a scientist at the University of Portsmouth, was the one to speak this week. He's the most recent to delve on The Matrix analogy, arguing that we may be bumping up against the edge of our simulation. However, there are a few serious problems with his theory. The Matrix The notion that our universe is a simulation is one of the most enduring sci-fi concepts. This hypothesis was popularized in 1999 through the Wachowski sisters' film The Matrix, which depicted human beings as slaves and paralyzed in a reality made by their machine lords. This metaphysical argument is ongoing since the 17th Century, and is based on ideas from philosophers such as Descartes and Zhuang Zhou.
youtube
It's possible to build a scientific case for the idea that we might be living in a simulation originally proposed by University of Oxford philosopher Nick Bostrom. Bostrom believed that a civilization that has enough computing power will be able to run multiple simulations of their ancestors. It's probable that at a minimum, these simulations will feature humans. The humans that would be created ones, and not the primitive minds that were once in existence, but those computers wouldn't have the computing power needed to create a flawless copy of our universe down to the last atom which means that there might be a few glitches in our reality. These glitches may appear to be ghosts or aliens however they're actually virtual realities. These kinds of phenomena are referred to as "parallel universe" or "multiverse" experiences. They occur when they occur when fragments of our everyday reality slide in and out of the parallel timeline. Storefronts may appear in one location but not another or an elevator may show an entirely different floor. These are often explained by the same kind of logic that computer gamer use to explain glitches in their games. But, physics is issues with the simulation hypothesis. Even a perfect replica of our universe, even down to the smallest particles requires more energy than is available within the universe. Making a flawed simulation convincing enough to cause us believe could be more difficult. It's not impossible however it is difficult to defend. The Anomaly The idea of a simulator has been presented in many different ways in video games, movies and TV shows. According to one popular interpretation one, we play in a game played out in video that is operated by an artificial intelligence. The game could have the potential for infinite outcomes, and the effects of those actions could affect our real life. The theory was also discussed in the video game No Man's Sky from 2016. According to in-game lore the universe of No Man's Sky is a simulation of reality that is run by an AI called The Atlas. The Atlas made multiple versions of the universe, each with different history and different races. The most popular explanation for the simulation hypothesis can be discovered in an academic article written by the philosopher Nick Bostrom. The paper "The Anthropic Trilemma" suggests that we could have the computing power to create a simulation of our ancestors if we could achieve "posthuman civilization status." The simulation would be so detailed that it would be distinct from the real thing to the simulation of the ancestor. The simulation of the ancestor, would have the computational power to create more elaborate versions of itself. The more advanced simulations, they would, in turn, be unrecognizable from reality, and on and on, resulting in the vast virtual world of layers. A number of technology-related leaders have expressed an interest in this theory, which includes PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. They often point to the rapid advancements in the field of virtual reality as well as artificial intelligence as reason to believe that the simulation hypothesis is a plausible idea. But other scientists have raised doubts about the simulation theory. For example, a 2012 research conducted by researchers at the University of Rochester found that playing video games can alter the shape and activities of certain areas of the brain. This is the kind of brain change that would be expected if a human brain were an artificial computer, however these findings don't necessarily mean that we are living in a videogame. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGdW2jO29IE

Idk what to ask I’m so damn confused about this au
It takes a bit of background knowledge to get into it immediately but I'll try to explain everything as it develops!
Basic idea is it's a secret superhero human highschool au. Nick and Terios got magic jewelry (miraculous) to transform them into animal themed heroes each with distinct abilities.
Nick uses the Black Cat miraculous to transform into Sonic, who's abilities center around destruction.
Terios uses the Ladybug Miraculous to transform into Shadow, who's abilities center around Creation.
Terios lives with his Uncle Ivo and Ivo's personal assistant, Stone. They're pretty wealthy, but it feels more like a professional environment than a house most of the time. Ivo adopted Terios after Maria passed away. Terios was homeschooled until the year he got his miraculous.
Nick lives with Tom and Maddie Wachowski, who fostered and later adopted him, and Miles Prower, who is another foster child. Their house is very loving and warm :)
Nick is a person who has a strong sense of justice and will not hesitate to stand up to someone if it's what's right. Terios, who is timid and doesn't stand up for himself much, deeply respects Nick for being able to speak up.
Sonic is a hero who just wants to enjoy the rush of fighting and saving the day, not really caring about his image as long as he's having fun. Shadow is a hero who wants to get the job done as soon as possible and keep everyone safe. Sonic and Shadow are a duo who butt heads but they work well together. They are actually friends 💕
Sonic always flirts with Shadow, which flusters him.
Terios has feelings for Nick, but doesn't know how to articulate or express them.
Neither knows the others identities, and they haven't had the Miraculous for a long time. just enough to know what they need to do and are comfortable with it.
There's episodic villains, which are Akumatized by the main villain. Akumatization is a power given by a miraculous where the wielder of the miraculous can empower people depending on their emotions, which leads to a lot of emotional manipulation for the sake of evil. This keeps the main villain in the background while episodic henchmen keep the story going.
The Butterfly Miraculous (which akumatizes people) is owned by Ivo Robotnik. Robotnik also possesses the damaged Peacock miraculous as well.
Ik I'm missing stuff but here's some of it

Meet the Wachowski twins. Sonic Wachowski, ever-youthful and filled to the brim with confidence and spunk, living his best life after finding success in the movie industry. And... Nick. Who isn’t doing that. ‘Nick’ Wachowski isn’t doing much of anything, overshadowed by his ‘twin’ who took all the glory. All the success. He even took his name. To say he’s a little bitter is a bit of an understatement but hey, they mostly get along.
“Hey Nickyyyyy!! Guess who landed a role in the new Spiderman movie coming next year??? THIS GUY”
“Oh wow I’m so glad for you your life is finally turning around for the better huh”
“You know it!!!!!!”
“Remember, bro! Anyone can be a star! Even you!”
“Heh heh yeeeeeeeah fuck you”

I know you said you didn't see Tails as a Wachowski, so let me ask, do you AT LEAST see him as a permanent friend of Sonic's? Like, maybe he'd live nearby? Heck, Tails could work as a tech expert and help modernize Green Hills! He could be an AMAZING addition to the community!
Please know that I’m not frustrated at you at all over this. I’ve received this question lots when the movie was released to the general public. Any time I’ve been asked this question my words have been twisted and stripped from my reasoning. I’m frustrated that when I’m asked this I get harsh feedback over my opinion. I’m really sorry for my tone of voice here.
My answer will always be the same in this case: I don’t see Tails staying on Earth, I only see Sonic staying on Earth. I am in no way, no how denying that they are brothers. They are, and always will be, brothers. I have ALWAYS said that they are brothers and that I view them as such. What I have always said, and I’ve received some... let’s say immature feedback about this, is that I DON’T see Tails getting adopted into the Wachowski family like I’ve seen interpreted in fanart and fanfictions. (The fanfiction and art is adorable, by the way). I don’t see Tails getting adopted, but I can see him as apart of the family in a sense. (Think of him as a childhood friend that is almost always over at your house and seen as a brother). I have a firm belief that Tails will have other plans.
Pat Casey has stated a couple of times in interviews that Tails will be seen as a “Nick Fury” in the movie’s lore. ick Fury was the one that assembled all of the superheroes in the Avengers and and they all worked together. He introduced each superhero to one another that way. THAT is how I view Tails. It would make complete sense! Tails could know Knuckles, or Amy Rose, from his planet and brought them all to Earth so they make sure that Robotnik doesn’t threaten the islands. Sonic would stay on Earth, making sure that Dr. Robotnik, or other forces of phenomenon, and protect his home. Earth is Sonic’s home, he’s stated that in the movie a few times. Sonic isn’t going to go anywhere. Tails, and potentially others, could warp to Earth and ask Sonic to come on a journey with them to stop the forces of evil when it calls for it.
I have NEVER denied that they can’t be brothers. They are brothers. That’s what makes the relationship between the two strong and cool. I just don’t see Tails staying on Earth and being a Wachowski in that sense like Sonic is a Wachowski.
This is what I have always said about Tails’ role in the movie, I stand by it. If it turns out to be different in the second film, that’s great! I’m welcomed to the idea when I see more of the direct of the second movie. For now, I just don’t see it at all at the moment.
#mystery anon#off topic#my opinion#please don't bash me for my opinions again guys#I'm tired of giving my opinion on this ask and being picked on for it#I've been asked this two--now three--times and I don't want to be picked on for it again#tails the fox#knuckles the echidna#the avengers#Nick fury
